This course is targeted to foster carers and social care roles in children’s services in the London Borough of Sutton.
Aims
The aims of this session is to support you:
• To develop ways to manage your own anger
• Develop de-escalation and diffusion techniques
• Safely disengage from being held
• Safely disconnect another person from being held
• Understand personal safety and how to self-protect
• Post incident actions – the importance of record keeping and de-briefing
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this session you will have:
• An improved understanding about how to respond to aggression
• An improved understanding about how feelings drive behaviour
• Be able to identify general physiological signs of anger
• Be able to identify the common triggers of anger
• Be able to recognise the levels of anger in young people
• Be able to apply interventions for each level of anger including actions to avoid being restrained or attacked
