Target group
Children’s Social Care managers, ATMs, social workers, family support worker and anyone else who would chair or contribute to a strategy meeting.
Aim
This session aims to provide participants with the knowledge required to effectively chair and contribute to strategy meetings including those with complex safeguarding issues. It covers statutory requirements set out in pan-London child protection procedures, the LSCP management of self-harm protocol and local practice directives.
Learning objectives
By the end of the training participants should:
● Understand the legal framework of strategy meetings including when they should be held, who should participate and timing of meetings.
● Understand where they can find the LSPP threshold indicators and local practice threshold documents and have practised applying them to case study examples.
● Understand what best practice in chairing and contributing to strategy meetings looks like , including :
○ How to ensure that meetings stay child focussed
○ How to ensure that the LCPP agenda for holding strategy meeting is fully addressed and the standards and expectations for recording information onto MOSAIC is known including how to use the strategy meeting prompt sheets
○ How to plan and prepare for a strategy meeting including the use of genograms, chronologies and Return Home Interviews
○ What the outcomes of a good strategy meeting look like including understanding the next steps (s47 enquiries, review strategy meetings, Initial Child Protection Conferences, legal planning meetings ) and what a SMART child focussed safety plan looks like including the use of NRM’s.
