Target Group
This training is targeted to adult social care staff who work for the London Borough of Sutton.
Aims
The aims of this session are:
- To develop an understanding of undertaking a strengths-based approach in all elements of practice including needs assessment, risk assessment, care-planning and reviews.
- To understand the theory and principles of a strength based approach
- To understand how to work in a strengths-based way to improve the engagement with the service user, family and extended networks in assessment and care planning
- To understand how to work in a strengths-based way in multi-agency partnership working
- To understand how the use of practice tools such as asset mapping can enhance professional judgements about what is appropriate and proportional
Learning Objectives
After the completion of this course participants will have an improved their:
- Knowledge and understanding about the principles and key elements of strength-based practice, and how to apply the approach in practice
- Knowledge and understanding about how to resolve barriers to undertake a strengths-based approach
- Developed an understanding about practice tools to support strength-based assessments and care-planning within the context of adults and children’s social care
- Understanding of barriers and solutions for implementing a strength-based approach.
