Aims

A vocational profile is a way of gathering information that is specifically related to work and supporting someone to find a job. It is about taking a person-centred approach to finding out what a young person wants to do and provides an opportunity to understand what a person is interested in and to explore why and to get the best match of a job for them. The aim of this session is to help professionals to become more confident in working with young people to develop vocational profiles.

Learning objectives

By the end of the session you will have:
- An improved understanding about the importance of focusing on the young person’s voice, and their interests and motivations, and also how to involve parents and/or other family members
- Explored best practice approaches to completing the vocational profile
