All About Me Workshop for Foster Carers

Target group

This course is targeted to foster carers who work for the London Borough of Sutton.

Aims

The aim of this session is:

• To understand the expectations of All About Me Approach to Children Looked After Reviews including how reviews will run, communication and letter to children 

Learning objectives

By the end of the course participants will have:

• An increased knowledge about how the approach works in practice
• An increased knowledge about the importance of direct work and children’s participation in key planning forums
• An increased knowledge about the prevalence and impact of language difficulties
• An ability to reflect on the differences between neutral descriptions of behaviour and interpretations of behaviour when working with children and families.
• An ability to learn and to re-frame observable behaviour.
• An ability to critique communication about children and families
• An ability to develop skills in writing directly to children (All About Me letters)
