TARGET GROUP:

This session is targeted specifically to Voluntary sector partners. 

Staff Groups B, C and D as per Bournemouth University national Competency framework for Safeguarding Adults. Level 3 staff and above (ref: NHS Intercollegiate document 2018  - Adult Safeguarding: Roles and Competencies For Healthcare Staff): Registered health care staff working with adults who engage in assessing, planning, intervening and evaluating the needs of adults where there are safeguarding concerns (as appropriate to role); and other named and  designated professionals with specialist roles.

PROGRAMME OVERVIEW:

Safeguarding training

  • What constitutes a safeguarding concern
  • How to raise a referral and the components of a good quality referral
  • Risk, consent, mental capacity, and overriding consent
  • What happens when a referral is received
  • What information will be shared with you
  • How can you follow up

AIMS:

The aim of the session is:

  • To provide clarity on the adult safeguarding identification, referral and assessment process to ensure vulnerable adults are kept safe.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

By the end of the session participants will have developed awareness of:

  • The adults safeguarding threshold criteria for a referral and assessment
  • How to identify a safeguarding concern
  • How to make an appropriate safeguarding referral
  • How to use the online safeguarding referral form
  • How to gain consent, and when it can be overridden because of statutory safeguarding duties
