Target group
This course is for permanent children's social care staff who work for the London Borough of Sutton and who have previously completed the 3 day Restorative Practice Conferencing training course.
Aims
The aims of this sessions are:
- To provide participants with an opportunity to reflect on how they have used Restorative Practice since being trained.
- To provide participants with a reminder of the theories, principles and processes used within restorative practice.
- To improve participants’ confidence in using restorative skills as part of their day-to-day work.
Learning objectives
By the end of this course, participants will have:
- Reflected on their previous experience of using restorative practice to restore relationships and/or resolve conflict.
- Refreshed their knowledge of the theory, principles and how trauma informed practice links to restorative practice.
- Reflected on the different restorative processes available as part of the restorative practice continuum.
- Refreshed their knowledge of the practical considerations for facilitating formal restorative processes, including how to prepare participants for direct restorative processes.
- The opportunity to practice facilitating restorative meetings through role play and by doing so refresh their restorative skills.
Special instructions
- Only those who have previously undertaken the 3 day Restorative Practice Conferencing course in the last 3 years should attend this course.
- Staff must undertake the refresher course every 3 years.
