Statement writing for care proceedings 25/26

Target Group

This course is targeted to staff in children’s services, including social workers who complete statements within care proceedings in the London Borough of Sutton.

Aim

The aim of the session is:  

• To improve the knowledge about the key principles for writing high quality statements in care proceedings. 

A particular focus is the Re BS Analysis within the initial and final evidence.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the course, participants will have:

• An improved understanding of what the courts expect to be included in statements 
• An improved understanding of how to analyse the Re BS section of the statement and set out the various ‘realistic options’ for the Court.
• An improved knowledge about the key principles for writing high quality statements.
