Target group

This course is targeted to registered nurses working in Care Homes within the London Borough of Sutton.

Aims

The aims of this session are:

  • To gain more knowledge in relation to palliative care and end of life care and a chance to share and reflect with other nurses on experiences.

Learning objectives

  • At the end of this course participants will have:
  • An ability to recognise those who are dying
  • An increased understanding of palliative care and end of life care
  • An increased understanding of the importance of advanced care planning and a knowledge of the Universal Care Plan
  • An improved awareness of symptom control
  • An increased understanding of Last Offices
  • An increased understanding of the grieving process
  • An ability to reflect and discuss work experiences
  • An increased knowledge of the importance of caring for yourself
