Target group
This course is targeted to registered nurses working in Care Homes within the London Borough of Sutton.
Aims
The aims of this session are:
- To gain more knowledge in relation to palliative care and end of life care and a chance to share and reflect with other nurses on experiences.
Learning objectives
- At the end of this course participants will have:
- An ability to recognise those who are dying
- An increased understanding of palliative care and end of life care
- An increased understanding of the importance of advanced care planning and a knowledge of the Universal Care Plan
- An improved awareness of symptom control
- An increased understanding of Last Offices
- An increased understanding of the grieving process
- An ability to reflect and discuss work experiences
- An increased knowledge of the importance of caring for yourself
