Target group
This course is targeted to carers within Nursing, Residential and Day Care Services, including Home Carers in the London Borough of Sutton.
Aims
The aims of this session are:
- To provide knowledge on constipation and how to prevent and treat appropriately.
Learning objectives
At the end of this course participants will have:
- An increased understanding of the digestive system
- An ability to identify constipation
- An ability to identify signs and symptoms
- An improved awareness of those at highest risk of constipation
- An increased understanding of the importance of using appropriate communication
- An improved awareness of ways to prevent constipation
- An increased understanding of treatment for constipation
