TARGET GROUP:
This course is targeted to practitioners in Adults Social Care in the London Borough of Sutton.
AIMS:
The aims of this session is:
- To ensure attendees have a good understanding of the financial assessment process for residential and community care services and both the Council’s charging policy and Statutory guidance that underpins this.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
At the end of this course participants will have:
- An improved understanding of how Council finance works ie through income - Council tax, grants, fees and charges etc.
- An improved knowledge of how resources are allocated and spent through the respective Council departments. This will as an outcome result in people understanding the basic principles of Council finances.
- An improved understanding of payment processes, purchase orders and budget codes.
- An improved understanding of how monies are managed i.e. spend with part/full year effect.
- An increased awareness of points of contact/guidance and information - 'where can I find?' and 'how to'.
- An ability to explain how the policy works when asked about it by residents living in the Borough.
