ASC Financial Awareness Training 24/25

TARGET GROUP: 

This course is targeted to practitioners in Adults Social Care in the London Borough of Sutton.

AIMS:

The aims of this session is: 

• To ensure attendees have a good understanding of the financial assessment process for residential and community care services and both the Council’s charging policy and Statutory guidance that underpins this.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

At the end of this course participants will have: 

• An improved understanding of how Council finance works ie through income - Council tax, grants, fees and charges etc.
• An improved understanding of payment processes, purchase orders and budget codes.
• An understanding of the council’s ASC Charging Policy - including changes agreed in December 2024 and an ability to explain how the policy works when asked about it by residents living in the Borough.
• An improved understanding of how the Council charges for residential care (including Deferred payments, top up arrangements and Interim Funding)
• An improved understanding of the role of the Client Finance Team relating to Deputyship and Appointeeships
• An increased awareness of points of contact/guidance and information - 'where can I find?' and 'how to'.
