Target group
This session is for anyone who is involved in Education and Health Care Planning (EHCP) with young people e.g. SENCO’s, Education Psychologist, Virtual School, Early Help and Family support workers, Youth workers, Personal Advisers, Social workers, Independent Reviewing Officers, Health professionals, Sutton Parent/Carer Forum (SPCF).
It also applies to senior managers who are reviewing planning processes and practice.

Aims
The aim of this session is to provide a better understanding about:
• The Law
• Young people’s participation and co-production at the individual, organisational and strategic levels
• How to support young people to have a voice
• EHC planning and young people’s participation – with a focus on the year 9 review and review thereafter.
Learning objectives
By the end of the session you will have:
• Improved knowledge and understanding about the statutory duties that apply to promoting young people’s participation in preparing for adulthood
• Explored approaches to more effectively support young people to have a voice and be actively involved in EHC planning, and the review process.
