Target Group:
All social care staff in adults and children services in the London Borough of Sutton who will be undertaking both adult and children’s carers assessments.
Aims:
The aim of this session is to: Support staff in their understanding of their duties to carers and young carers and to be able to confidently undertake assessment and planning within the defined adults and children’s frameworks.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this course, participants will have:
- An increased understanding of their statutory obligations (including roles and responsibilities, adult and children’s legislation, duties as defined within the local practice directive)
- Improved their knowledge including the differentiation between support and safeguarding.
- Developed the necessary skills to complete carers assessments in relation to adults, children and parents, through interactive case studies/exercises
- Improved their ability to compile proportionate and creative plans to meet need
- Developed a better understanding about the role of partner agencies in identifying and supporting carers
- Increased understanding about referral pathways, thresholds and services available to families
- Improved ability to effectively navigate and complete the carer's pathways on the borough’s electronic recording system.
