This course is targeted to all staff in adults social care

Aims

The aim of this course is to ensure that staff within Adult Social Care are confident and competent in record keeping and report writing in line with the requirements of the Care Act 2014 and the Capacity Act 2005; ensuring that they are able to articulate issues of capacity, risks, strengths and the service users viewpoint in a concise and professional manner, outlining options and decision-making that is both accountable and defensible.

Learning Objectives

This course will provide participants with the following learning outcomes:
• To be able to confidently write reports and case notes with appropriate legal literacy in terms of the Care Act and Capacity Act using the correct terminology.
• To be able to confidently write about safeguarding and risk – using language that is meaningful to the risk management process.
• To be able to write professionally, concisely, accurately and clearly for the purposes of accountability.
• To be able to clearly articulate reasoning and decision-making.
