London Borough of Sutton's Occupational Therapists (OTs) in Adults Social Care and those who require an understanding about OT statutory requirements. 

Please note that this course is by invitation only.

Aims:

This half day course aims to highlight the legal underpinning to the work of occupational therapists with adults in need, in local authorities. It will serve as both overview and update.

Learning Objectives:

After completing this course, participants will have an improved understanding and better ability to apply the rules about some or all of the following topics, depending on those which are most relevant to attendees:
- Care Act prevention, use of universal services
- Eligibility under the Care Act
- Equipment and minor adaptations
- Major home adaptations (Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996)
- Distinguishing social care duties from NHS duties involving assessment, equipment etc.
- Strength-based approach
- Remote assessment
- Single-handed care issues – manual handling etc.
- Aspects of mental capacity, informal carers, manual handling
