  • This course will focus on strategies that have evidence-informed impact on pupil progress.
  • The first session will review the best bets for ensuring rapid progress and will focus on metacognition and feedback using the best evidence available.
  • The second session will focus on adaptive teaching and other cognitive science strategies that have a proven impact on pupil progress.
  • It will show practical examples of what these could look like across the curriculum.
  • Review current Ofsted guidance.
  • Give an opportunity to reflect and plan next steps.

This training session is suitable for

  • Headteachers and deputy headteachers leading on teaching and learning
  • Teaching and learning leads
  • Senior leaders.

The aim of this session is to

  • develop knowledge and understanding of metacognition, feedback, adaptive teaching, and cognitive science strategies. What are they and what could they look like?
  • further improve whole school teaching and learning strategies that impact on pupil progress.

After attending this course, you will

  • have a greater understanding of metacognition, feedback, adaptive teaching and cognitive science strategies and how these can be used to support pupil progress.
