Target Group:

This study session is for:

  • Senior carers and registered nurses in Care Homes within the Private, Voluntary and Independent Sectors within Sutton and those who look after Sutton’s residents and
  • Senior carers and registered nurses employed by the London Borough of Sutton, in particular the START Team

Please note this course is not open to domiciliary/home care providers within the private, independent and voluntary (PVI) sectors.

Course Overview:

The aims of the course are to:

  • Explore how to recognise changes in your resident that indicate they are becoming unwell
  • Enable identification of possible causes, including signs and symptoms of common conditions
  • Explore actions to take and escalation of care
  • Identify services to support you and how to refer
  • Outline the management of on-going care needs

Learning Objectives:

By the end of training session participants will have:

  • Gained the skill and confidence to recognise changes in your residents that may indicate a change in their condition
  • The ability to identify the potential causes for these changes
  • Greater knowledge to ascertain what actions should be taken if you are concerned a resident has deteriorated
  • The ability to identify methods of how to escalate your concerns
  • Greater knowledge of strategies to manage these residents
  • Greater knowledge and skills to prevent deterioration of residents
