Target Group / Level

This training is targeted to Group Level 2 (in regular contact with children, young people and/or parent/carer) or Level 3 (predominately working with children) as as set out in the Safeguarding Competency framework in London Safeguarding Child Procedures. NHS Inter-Collegiate Standards 2 and 3 for health professionals

Course Overview / Aim

The course will support participants to recognise, assess and manage neglect cases through child focused interventions.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the session, the participants will review, consider and reflect on:
 
  • Research and lessons from national and local SCRs  and how to critically integrate these to assessments of children and families
  • The definition of neglect and implication for it's application in practice
  • How to recognize neglect and understand it's impact in the context of child development
  • Sutton neglect screening tool
