TARGET GROUP

Group Level 2 (regular contact with children, young people and/or parent/carer) or Level 3 (predominately working with children) or above (including strategic leads) as set out in the Competence Still Matters training framework published by the London Safeguarding Children Board. Inter-Collegiate Standards 2 and above for health professionals.

AIM

The aim is to help professional identify and respond to women and girls at risk of, or who have experienced harmful practices as required under pan-London child protection procedures. It also sets out the pathway for independent advocacy and therapeutic support.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

By attending this course, participants will have:

- To have a better understanding of the definition of harmful practices linked to faith or culture as set out in London Child Protection Procedures.

Gained an improved awareness of the policies and legislation to protect women’s and girl’s rights.

Improved their understanding about the impact of harmful practices on individuals, their families and the wider community.

Increased awareness about referral pathways for independent advocacy and therapeutic support available to women and girls.

IKWRO is a registered charity which provides advice and support to Middle Eastern, African, North African,South Asian, British and Afghan women and girls living in the UK who are at risk or experiencing harmful practices.
