There is an expectation that all Social Workers within Children's Social Care attend one of these Looked After Child Review masterclasses. Attendance will be monitored and non-attendance followed up with team managers
Course Overview
This course focuses on the key tasks for social workers once a child becomes looked after. It also provides information on the LAC (looked after child) process from their initial review onwards, and the key tasks of the child's IRO.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the workshop participants will have an understanding of:
- How to make a referral once a child becomes looked after;
- The timescales for submission of reports and LAC reviews;
- The responsibilities of the child's IRO;
- Social worker responsibilities towards keeping the IRO informed.
