Men in Fostering - Virtual

Target Group:  

This course is for foster carers, adopters and Supervising Social Workers. In addition, this course is for Residential Child Care Workers (RCCW) and residential team managers from mainstream, short-breaks and outreach services.

Also relevant for youth workers, education professionals and those in the community and voluntary sectors.

Learning Outcomes:  

1. Understand how the gender of carers is relevant, considering this from the viewpoint of the looked after child
2. Determine what makes a positive male role model
3. Understand the barriers to achieving a successful male caring role and how men might navigate through these challenges
4. Know the key areas of influence that men have on children in care and how this is relevant for different age groups
