Group Level 3 (predominately working with children) or above (including strategic leads) as set out in the Safeguarding Competency framework in London Safeguarding Child Procedures. NHS Inter-Collegiate Standards 2 and above for health professionals.
Course Overview/ Aim
This course will examine and explore:
• the evidence base that informed the compilation of the DASH (2009) Risk Model
• agency responsibility in relation to risk identification, assessment and management
• the risk identification process and the high risk factors for serious harm and homicide
• how this relates to the risk management process
• how the model fits into the wider public protection framework
• the profile of the domestic violence perpetrator and nature of serial offending
• how the model fits into partnership working and the risk management panels including the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARACs) and Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA)
• lessons learned from homicide reviews using case studies.

Learning Outcomes
After the end of the course participants will have:
- An improved understanding about agency responsibility in relation to risk identification, assessment and management
- Developed knowledge about the evidence base that underpin the DASH risk model(2009) and how it fits into the risk management process
- The risk identification process and the high risk factors for serious harm and homicide
- An increased understanding about the profile of the domestic violence perpetrator and nature of serial offending
- Developed awareness about the lessons learned from homicide reviews
- Developed the ability to understand how to use the DASH Risk model
- An increased confidence to apply the model and to know where to refer to when risks are identified
