This session is for SENCO’s , Post 16/Preparing for Adulthood Leads in local areas and SEND/Preparing for Adulthood Curriculum leads in post 16 provision, Sutton Parent/Carer Forum (SPCF), Social care and health professionals who have a post 16 role.

Level 3-5 SEND competency framework

Aims

The aim of this session is:

  • To have an introduction to a person-centred approach in order to find out what a young person wants to do and provides an opportunity to understand what a person is interested in and to explore why and to get the best matched job for them.

Learning objectives

At the end of this course participants will have:

  • An improved understanding about the importance of focusing on the young person’s voice, and their interests and motivations, and also how to involve parents and/or other family members;
  • An increased knowledge on best practice approaches to completing the vocational profile.
