Target group

This course is targeted to professionals who are supporting children and young people with developmental trauma at all levels: social care staff, educational settings (early years providers, schools, academies, free schools, colleges), therapeutic roles and other roles. 

Aims 

The aims of this session are:

  • To have an introduction to developmental trauma
  • To have an overview of the impact of trauma on the brain and attachment
  • To find ways to support children’s behaviour and development
  • To use the PACE model of intervention 

Learning objectives 

At the end of this course participants will have:

  • An increased understanding of what developmental trauma is
  • An increased understanding of how trauma impacts the brain
  • An improved confidence in recognising and supporting developmental trauma related needs in children
  • An increased understanding of how to use the PACE model of intervention
  • An improved confidence to share practice and additional approaches with other attendees
